Early Native American Indian Buffalo Fur Horn Headdress Warrior Bonnet 19th C. Originally from private museum collection in the Great Plains area.Wow, what an eye catching piece. Very large measuring around 2 feet across from horn to horn.
Cap is Buffalo fur that is lined with burlap type material. Front is trimmed with blue beads and black human hair hangs from the back. 2 steer horns decorate each side and are connected with ermine skins. Red trade cloth also hangs from the tip of each horn. Many ermine skins are also present in the middle of the cap and hang down the front and back of the Bonnet. There is also an ermine skin hanging from the ear area on one side, presumably there was a match on the opposite side but it has disappeared. Entire headdress is sewn with plant material. Great piece to add in a show room. The item "Early Native American Indian Buffalo Fur Horn Headdress Warrior Bonnet 19th C" is in sale since Tuesday, June 9, 2020.
