These early 40's-50's earrings feature an important Zuni icon known as "Rainbowman" (or Rainbow Man), so called for the curving shape, like a rainbow. This form is a symbol of protection, as it was once found on war shields. There are other meanings, as the rainbow represents life-sustaining rains for agricultural crops in the arid Southwest. Excellent silverwork, with turquoise, Mother of Pearl, black jet, and coral inlaid into a detailed design.
The earrings measure approximately 1-3/8" tall by 3/4" wide. Great addition to your collection.
