On offer is an authentic, vintage Native American Navajo hand wrought sterling silver three (3) band cuff bracelet adorned with a large beautiful fine hand cut and polished agatized petrified wood cabochon stone surrounded by raindrop beading, fancy hand stamped side plaquettes and hand stamped and braided bands. The stone is from the Arizona Petrified Forest.
The bracelet has the letter M or W, most likely for the maker, incised on the back of the plaque. This was common in Native American silver work prior to 1970. It tested positive for Sterling. We believe this piece was created circa 1940's. This fine classic bracelet was skillfully crafted in the traditional Navajo technique with attention to detail and is in very good vintage condition (please see ALL photos for an accurate detailed depiction).
The beautiful, gem quality agatized petrified wood stone is in very good condition with no chips, scratches or cracks. The color is charcoal, pale gray and tan with orange highlights on a translucent ground. The stone is firmly and securely set in a smooth silver bezel surrounded by silver raindrops. The large oval shaped cabochon stone measures approx. 1 5/8" long x 1 3/16" wide.
The three (3) band bracelet measures approx. 2" tapering to 9/16" wide. The interior circumference of the cuff is approx.6 1/2" TOTAL including 1 1/4" opening. The cuff has a bit of flexibility for careful adjusting and weighs a very hefty 53 grams - 1.705 ounces. This traditional, well crafted vintage Native American Navajo Sterling Silver and Petrified Wood cuff bracelet created by a highly skilled artisan would make an outstanding addition to any Twentieth Century Native American Silver and Stone Jewelry, Arizona Petrified Wood or Historic American Cultural Arts and Crafts collection. We have been involved in the design and creation of contemporary jewelry at the undergraduate and postgraduate level since 1967.
In 1975 we opened a gallery of hand wrought fine art contemporary jewels and have since handled thousands of unique, one of a kind and limited edition pieces crafted predominantly by American artisans with a special emphasis on Native American Art. Will be determined upon request. We believe our photos and description to be an accurate testament. Thus, ALL SALES ARE FINAL.
Thanks for looking and good luck.
