Early Vintage Navajo Sterling Silver Large Petrified Wood Agate Cuff Bracelet

  

On offer is an authentic, vintage NAVAJO hand wrought. 925 sterling silver three (3) band cuff bracelet adorned with a stunning southwestern desert natural hand-cut and polished petrified wood agatized cabochon stone (the colors are closest to the first photos), fancy wire work and raindrop bands. Petrified wood is found in the prehistoric petrified forest the east of Holbrook, Arizona and extends into the painted desert. This bracelet is not hallmarked which was quite common in earlier Native American jewelry prior to 1970.

We believe it was created circa 1940 or perhaps earlier. This classic bracelet was skillfully executed in the traditional old NAVAJO technique with attention to detail and is in very good vintage condition (please see ALL photos for an accurate detailed depiction). The bracelet's bands include two (2) heavy round silver wires and a very heavy central flat twisted silver band. The beautiful natural, desert landscape hue petrified wood stone is in very good condition with no chips or cracks. The colors are the typical subtle earth tones of brick red, yellow, green and dark brown. The gem quality stone is firmly and securely set in a smooth silver bezel surrounded by fancy silver rope and other silver work on a plaque framed by silver bars and raindrop rows. 1 1/16" x 1 1/16". The three (3) band bracelet measures approx. 1 1/2" tapering to 7/16" wide. The interior circumference of the cuff is approx. 6 1/2" TOTAL including 1 1/4" opening. The cuff has some flexibility for careful adjusting and weighs a very hefty 46.6 grams - 1.50 ounces.
