Early Zuni Masterpiece Thunderbird Pin Channel Inlay Rare Natural Shells Stones

  
This older Zuni hand made pin is superbly made of rare and beautiful shells and stone. The turquoise is an intense color as is the coral and the mother of pearl is unusually lustrous, with jet contrasting against the white mother of pearl and fantastic brown and pink shell which are both very rare and one of them dates it to prior to 1973. This would be a mid century masterpiece. These thunderbird have been referred to as Hopi Birds for no particularly good reason, but that should be mentioned. This is an exceptional pin made with channel inlay and decorated with flattened twisted wire and applied raindrops. It is very graceful, very elegant, very beautiful. It is a great size at 2 high. The design is exceptionally stunning, so active and graceful in channel inlay which is so beautifully done. The condition is excellent vintage, wearable and collectible. This piece is unsigned and the artist is unknown but it's obviously done by one of the great masters.

It tests as sterling silver. The locking pin mechanism is working fine. These great ones are rare to find these days. I think this pin is truly spectacular; it is simple and it is elegant and coloration and array of the shells and stones truly glorious.
