Late 1970s-Early 80s Zuni Bolo Tie Large Inlay Bald Eagle by Ray & Eva Wyaco
Late 1970s - Early 1980s Bolo Tie; Zuni Sterling Silver Large Bald Eagle by Ray & Eva Wyaco. This bolo tie is a very well-crafted Zuni (New Mexico) sterling silver Bald Eagle that is inlayed with natural turquoise, jet, white and yellow mother-of-pearl (MOP). The tie was made by Ray and Eva Wyaco. These award-winning artists produced some of the finest inlay in Zuni. Ray, along with his first wife Bernice, began producing such designs in the 1960 - 70s. Then, along with Eva his second wife, they together produced this, and similar designs, into the 1980s.
The large tie is 3-3/4" tall, 3" wide, and weighs 91g. The matching, inlaid bald "eagle head, " dangling sterling tips are each 3-1/2 long. A few dings at the top of the tips, but not on the inlayed portion.
Although the pliable, original four-ply, black leather strap does show some wear, it is still quite usable. I will be listing several other bolos in the near future.
