Late 19th - Early 20th Century Prison Made Hitched Horsehair Quirt with Wrist Strap. Recently acquired from the Outstanding Lifetime Artifacts Collection of Dr. This quirt measures about 22 long (not including the leather straps), colorful dyed horsehair, shows some signs of wear/age, intact (though frayed) wrist loop.

Began collecting Native American artifacts as a boy of seven, eventually serving as President of the Connecticut Archaeological Society for four years and was lauded by this society for twenty-five years of dedicated service. He passed away this past August at the ripe age of 92, and this quirt was one of the items I won at the first of several auctions of this important collection.
