Vintage Native American Indian Canoe Boat Painted Early 1900-20 Cowans Auction

  

This is an original handmade Native American Indian Canoe Boat, birchbark, woven topside, hand painted with Indian designs. I would date this one as early made between 1900 to maybe 1930's.

It measures 27 1/2 inches long by 5 1/4 inches wide by 3 1/4 inch high to middle side and 4 3/8 inch to top of bow peaks on both ends. Has original hand painting on one end of bow top (see photo), all around top edge and both sides, and even on a wooden seat platform on the inside bottom. This is not your average birchbark Native American Indian canoe model. Instead this one is really artistically well-made and constructed.

Condition is great considering age with just maybe two flea bite pin holes, and 1/4 inch chip off top with inside that meets the bow tip; otherwise great. These minor issues do not impact the overall display at all.

Dusty on the inside and I will leave as is. Great display for your native American Indian Collection.
